The Gaffer: 23/03/2026
Right, pull up a pew, folks, because the UK pitches were serving up some proper jam. Kicking off with a cracker, or rather, a bit of a shocker for the big boys! Manchester United somehow managed to nick a draw, 2-2 against AFC Bournemouth. Two spot-kicks and an own goal – classic United, eh? Always making it hard work, bless 'em. You just can't write it! Then, down on the south coast, Brighton & Hove Albion pulled off a blinder, sending Liverpool packing with a 2-1 defeat! Danny Welbeck, bless him, still got it, bagging a brace. Klopp must be proper fuming, thought he'd have a walk in the park. Elsewhere, Fulham made light work of Burnley, 3-1, with another penalty thrown in at the death. And Preston North End had a right old time, smashing Stoke City 3-1. Good value for money, that lot!
Across the continent, the European leagues delivered a weekend of compelling football, with significant results for several key contenders. In the Bundesliga, FC Bayern München showcased their formidable attacking prowess with a commanding 4-0 victory over FC Union Berlin. Goals from Olise, a brace from Gnabry, and a characteristic strike from Kane underscored Bayern's dominance and continued pursuit of silverware. Meanwhile, league leaders Bayer 04 Leverkusen faced a stern test, ultimately securing a thrilling 3-3 draw against Heidenheim. Patrik Schick's brace was crucial in salvaging a point, highlighting Leverkusen's resilience but also showing a rare slip in their otherwise flawless campaign. Elsewhere, RB Leipzig delivered a comprehensive 5-0 thrashing of TSG Hoffenheim, demonstrating their offensive capabilities. High-scoring encounters were also a theme, notably Lens' impressive 5-1 win over Angers SCO and a captivating 3-3 draw between FC Köln and Borussia Mönchengladbach.
